Brandyn Knight lands trucking job with Mullen Crane and Transport
Cpl Brandyn Knight, took the Troops 2 Truckers course in July, 2009. After completion he continued to stay active with training. He was always willing to go above and beyond to assist other students. In May of 2009 he was selected to assist in transporting Memorial race cars for Fueled by the Fallen across the country to New River, NC and Arlington National Cemetery and participated in the National Memorial Day Parade in Washington, D.C. He exited Active duty status with the Marine Corps in July 2009 and moved back to Idaho where he accepted employment with Mullen Crane and Transport. Congratulations Brandyn!!!! RIG FIELD TRIP TO UNION DRILLING INC.
Students from our Troops 2 Roughnecks attended a field trip to Union Drilling in the Fort Worth division. Former Marine Corporal, John Clayton O’Connor, completes his first assignment with Transocean - the world’s premiere offshore drillerJohn Clayton O’Connor, former active duty Corporal and Iraq War Veteran with 1st Battalion, 7th Marines recently completed his first “hitch” with his new employer, Transocean. He graduated from Troops 2 Roughnecks and through the program’s Placement Services secured employment with a top tier driller with superb pay and benefits. Read about him below... 10/12/09 "Chris, Hope everything has been going well for ya’ll. I got back from my first hitch on Thursday of last week after having been gone for about 5 weeks bringing Transocean's newest drill ship over from South Africa. They flew us to South Africa and put us up in a hotel in Durban, then paid for a safari for the crew…. That was pretty cool and definitely not something I thought I would ever get to do. We got underway about Sept. 5th, and started making the trip across the Atlantic. I was glad to get out there on that trip and be able to learn the ropes before we actually get into operation later this year, or early next year. Even though it had been over a year since I was in the course, it helped having that basic knowledge on how a lot of stuff works. Still have a ton to learn though. The emphasis on safety is definitely practiced as much as it is preached which is in very much in keeping with what your instructors taught us. Much of the equipment that is on board is automated and the company tries to make everything as hands-free as possible to avoid unnecessary injuries. There are dozens of different paths to take with Transocean. Pretty much every job on the rig can be obtained by completing the On-the-Job Training manual for that position (kind of like MCIs except taken more seriously). The company will also pay for any schools, and pay you your full wage plus any mileage expenses, that they want you to attend on your time off that will help you to advance or to help you be more proficient at your job. Well that’s the rundown of my experience so far with Transocean. Anyways, thanks again for helping me land this job. Hard to beat the money and benefits for only working half a year. I've also found a school that's willing to work with my schedule to earn my degree as well, so things are going smoothly right now." Thanks again -J. Clayton O'Connor TMC Transportation visits Troops 2 Truckers!
Cheryl Freauff (Driver Recruitment Manager for TMC Transportation) recently visited Troops 2 Truckers, making the special trip all the way from Des Moines, IA. Cheryl spoke with 25 students about professional truck driving opportunities with her firm, TMC Transportation – the largest privately-held flatbed carrier in the nation. Cheryl is a former active duty Marine who was thrilled to be back at Camp Pendleton, CA and amongst her Marine brethren. Incidentally, her company actively seeks veterans with a CDL and gets them paid an extra $10,000 during their first year of employment through a VA-sponsored apprenticeship program. Several Troops 2 Truckers graduates were recently hired and will begin their civilian career working for TMC in September ’09. Good luck to graduates Michael Kaspshak and Jonathan West! A TMC Truck Driver who was kind enough to stop by the school and speak with students, showing off his impeccably maintained truck – a high standard maintained by all TMC drivers. Ed Bessette (right) Lead Instructor for Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton's Troops 2 Truckers course and Courtney Carr III (left) Lead Instructor for Marine Corps Base, Camp Lejeune's Troops 2 Roughnecks course met at Warrior Day aboard MCAS New River. Both courses participated for this wonderful event, celebrating Marine Corps Air Station New River's 97th Birthday. The two sister courses from Troop Transition. Troops 2 Truckers and Troops 2 Roughnecks met because Ed Bessette and Cpl Brandon Knight (graduated student) transported the Fueled By The Fallen Memorial Race Cars from Los Angeles, Ca. to MCAS New River and then onto Arlington National Cemetery and Washington D.C. for the Memorial Parade. TROOPS 2 TRUCKERS TRANSPORTS MEMORIAL RACE CARS TO ARLINGTON FOR MEMORIAL WEEKEND PARADE
Ed Bessette and Cpl Brandon Knight (graduated student) of the Troops 2 Truckers course, transported Fueled By The Fallen memorial race cars across country, with the final destination being at Arlington National Cemetary for a parade for a Memorial day celebration to honor all Military, both past and present that have served our Wonderful Country!! I WOULD RECOMMEND THE PROGRAM TO ANYONE!!!!I would recommend the program to anyone who is looking to make a pretty nice paycheck. I was assigned a mentor and he was amazed at how much I knew about the acutal process and tools used in the drilling process. Even if you're not planning to use your credential right now, you always have the experience to fall back on, which is GREAT, especially during this tough economic time. J.
